Well, its very beneficial to have a co op in your course of study. The following are the benefits :-

1.) First of all, its paid so u can make some money along with study.
2.) Also the work u get is related to your course of study...so u get your classroom teaching to real workplace experience.
3.) U can develop contacts in co op job which would help you to get a job afterward.
4.) Moreover you can get a job in the same company in which u did your co op work, as u already have experience working with them.
5.) Most companies prefer students with having a co op in their qualification

Co op is really important to order to get your career to new heights.Best of luck !

Trust me bro, I took a Co-Op course and its really worth it.

Like the other post said it paid and its a sweet good pay.

Second and the most important, you gain the experience you can put on your resume which will be really useful to get a job after you graduate and eventually your PR.

A lot of persons get rejection for this very basis, but still its depends on your luck as many have got their visa too.I would suggest wait for a expert reply from enfield royalsting etc ! Smiley

Sorry, but I need to correct 1 thing...I quote

Co op work hours are not counted as your work experience, if you need to apply for PR. Though they lead to a good job.And a good job would lead to a PR. Thanks and sorry draxz1289 no hard feelings Smiley

Hi,

Co op work hours count as your work experience only under Saskatchewan PNP program (International graduates).

Hi,

No, it's not applicable under federal.

but this Sask program looks more like a pilot program. Even there was a similar program under Manitoba PNP where there was no requirement for a job offer, but due to "heavy rush" they simply closed it.

Well, yes even I heard of that Manitoba PNP . Many students find it difficult to get P.R. in federal category, so the ones already there suggest to apply for Saskatchewan  rather than Ontario or any other province. At least I got one such suggestion.

What I ment was, he will use the  experience gained during study to get a job after graduation using which will eventually lead to his PR  not the co-op exp. for PR  @ Maherd

OP: getting a co-op job is your responsibility just like getting a job after graduation but the college or the uni does help by posting co-op specific jobs. My friend just got a co-op interview at KPMG which is a huge MNC and I did my co-o at the college's alumni office for two terms with 16/hr pay and graduated then  found a job and did my one year to gain the exp for the Canadian Experience Class category to apply for my residency and applied for it in August and got my medical.... so yeah the co-op option is good but you have to start looking for the co-op job soon and get it.
