WHP from Australia - Proof of Funds

My parents are deceased and I do not have the funds available. My partner in Canada, however, does have funds available and is able to provide a bank statement and letter. The Canadian immigration website is not entirely clear as in certain places it suggests you don't need a parent to do it, while specifically for the AUS WHP it only mentions parents' bank statements.

Can anyone confirm what is required and/or if they know whether you are allowed to use another person as a guarantor with their bank statement, passport copy and signed letter?
