So, I'm going to assume that this is a silly question, but me being me, I'll ask it anyway.

When we fill out the application for Permanent Residency, it says to use black ink.  However, do you also need to use black ink if they ask for more information?  I just wondered because they asked me for more information, and just to be safe I used black ink, though the letter didn't specify this.

I also need to send in some information that was incorrect on my application form (ugh!) and yeah, I'll be using black ink to write that out too.  Has anyone ever had stuff sent back that wasn't filled in with black ink?

When in doubt, use black ink.  I have never had complaints from any government authority for using black ink on communication with them.  Did have one lady get snippy because I signed in blue ink to change my name on my taxpayer registration.  Tongue

I bet most people avoid the ink thing at all (except signatures that is) by entering text electronically and printing. I honestly don't even remember which color me and my sponsor signed the forms in. I want to believe I followed the directions and used black, but it could have been blue. I'm not too sure they will waste your time and theirs by returning documents just because they're in the wrong color ink either......although maybe someone who has had that happen will correct me.

Yeah, we actually filled out all the forms using ink, because we just couldn't be bothered with the hassle of doing it all online.  I admit to hating how bad my handwriting looks in black ink, and much prefer blue. I half expected them to send our forms back saying they couldn't read them (Yes I AM that paranoid!)  Tongue but they didn't, so I guess we're all good.

I actually am kind of perfectionist about how things look so I went the electronic route (yeah, there's some technical issues about saving but it's really not much of a hassle). I would also agree that better safe than sorry (and I too prefer blue, especially when it stands out so much better from the typed black ink on the documents), but if they're OK with them, that's great! Good luck!!

if u have to write more info, i would type it so no more ink color dillema; good luck!

Wow, I sure wish they did that here lol.  I haven't sent it in yet, but I plan on sitting down this evening, correcting what needs to be corrected (in black ink!) and asking the hubby to post it off tomorrow morning on his way to work.

You're doing inland, right? I'm just wondering why are they asking you for more information now when you're already past the 9 month mark .....

I am doing Inland yeah.  They asked for a while back for some information that I'd forgotten to put in the application form, but I checked through my file a few days back, and realized that in the section where they ask for previous addresses, I'd gotten a few of the dates wrong, so I want to correct that ASAP so it doesn't cause any issues if they check them during the background checks is all.

You realize that you may be delaying your application by not sending that in sooner though, right? A member that had theirs received on October 18 by Vegreville got AIP/PR approval on July 26th.

I do realize that yeah, but I'm resigned to the fact that they may send my app to local Vancouver office and have them do an interview with me anyway, because I have kids that aren't accompanying me, and their father has refused point blank to have them submit to a medical exam.  So, it's going to be a while before I'm fully approved anyway.

In saying that, the information will be corrected tonight and sent first thing tomorrow.

Oh okay well I really hope that it doesn't take a long time though. I hope I didn't seem rude. I am wishing you lots of good luck and I hope though that it won't be transferred. Just send that of ASAP and it at least you know it is on the way there.  Wink

Thanks!  No, you didn't come off as rude lol, don't worry.

Thanks for the good luck wishes.  I just recently received my extension too, so I'm all good till April of next year.  I just hope to God it's all done and dusted before then!
