Although we have letters of proof of proficiency from our Universities...Hoping that this would be enough... but an immig consultant that I know advised me to be prepared... so i want to be prepared...

I applied as SW under simplified application and our waiting time is 20~24months, submitted last Aug2007 and 10months already past...so I assume that we will hear something from immig 10months from now....

When do you think is the best time to take IELTS? Should we take the test when we receive the notice of request for documents? or just wait if immig will ask for it and lucky us if they don't?

Why you are considering the path of delay in the application process? If convenient take the IELTS and send the scores to the immigration office (to update your existing file). I agree with you that your proficiency in english letters will play an important role, however you never know they might ask for IELTS score. That means this will delay your application process.
I saw many applicants, who graduated from Canadian universities but immigration office asked for IELTS score later on.

Just an opinion:)

Wish you all the best lucks.

I agree that you should take whenever the canadian immigration request it. If your assessment score is more than 67 without english proficiency your in good position, if not, I would suggest that you take the IELTS ahead of time so you'll know where you at after you get the result.

Assuming that the OP applied under SAP where no documents are submitted, s/he would have had to had the IELTS test within 1 year of submitting the application in Aug/2007.  So for the IELTS to be accepted it would have had to be done by August/08.  So s/he requires a valid IELTS, which won't happend until s/he is asked by the processing office for additional documents.

Hi
I am a new comer. My Question is that If I have an IELTS_ACEDEMIC Band 7, Do I even then need to re Take IELTS-GENERAL for immigration purposes?
Early answer appreciated specially from Senior members like PMM.

What would happen if you take the IELTS after submittion of the SW application, within year after submission, but immigration asks you for IELTS more than 1 year after you have taken the IELTS (making the IELTS invalid).  Does this mean you must redue the test?

For example:

Submitted SW application: July 2008
Completed IELTS: September 2008
Immigration request: November 2009

Thanks in advance
