When to apply for QSC?

Hi everyone,
I'm in the early stages of completing my application for spousal sponsorship. My wife is a Canadian citizen living in Quebec and I'm a German citizen currently living with her on a temporary work permit. We plan on applying inland. I'm somewhat confused by the order in which you submit what to whom when.

On the IMM 0008 form, question 7 asks if I have received my CSQ and if not when I have applied for it. This indicates to me that I need to apply for the CSQ before submitting the application to CIC. When looking at the MICC webpage, however, it states that I first have to receive my letter from Vegreville before I can submit the CSQ application.

Can somebody please lift my confusion?

for outland, u first get the sponsor approval and then apply for CSQ and then the specific embassy processes the applicant part; from what i remember the ones inland also need to get the sponsor approval first but not sure....yes the new forms do ask the CSQ number or if u applied for it which is strange to me also since the CSQ process comes after for family class; but it looks that everybody has the same form (skilled worker, family, etc) and it's hard not to have discrepancies....for that question i would just answer NO and put N/A (they will know why)...from what i know, Quebec will not process ur application unless u show the sponsor approval (it's 100% like this for outland, it should be the same for inland too)
good luck!! can i ask why u plan to apply inland? outland would b so much faster; someone else, i think hopetoland is her name, got her visa through Berlin office in maybe 5 weeks this summer; that office looks so professional u can still live in Canada and have an outland process and in ur case (visa-exempt country) it would b easy to travel to pick up ur visa or in case of interview

For inland vs outland: yeah, after having read a whole lot more on the process it does indeed make much more sense to apply outland, and we'll probably do that. From what I gather, the only potential downside is that I might have to go to Berlin for an interview -- and that's not that big a deal after all.

u welcome if u prepare well the application (and this forum is a good place to start but also ur own reading of the guides and operational manuals) and if u answered any possible question u think they might have abt ur relationship, an interview could be very well avoided....Berlin looks reasonable office, just try to follow people who went through that office and u'll know if the trend is to have an interview or not

not only that inland would b much muuuuuch slower but also once u apply inland, u cannot leave Canada until the process is over, that could mean for almost 2 years; not even for family emergency or anything; it looks a big issue and if they find u r/were outside they just close ur file; each situation is different, so think well the route u want to take and study the inland threads too (i'm sure people with similar circumstances like yours could give reason why they chose the inland route)
