A quick question to all seniors..

Once your application is received by the visa office, then when does it change to "in process"? What seems to be the trend??????
Any feedback is appreciated...:Let's all share our views on this one.

It all depends.  Files that were submitted in 2008 on the average took between 7 to 11 months from application received to in process.  But the latest applications, those that were submitted in 2009, changed to in process after around 4 to 6 months.  The visa office where you applied is a factor too.  Some offices are faster than others.

I suggest that you log on to trackitt.com so you can see the cases that are most closest to your own timeline for better comparison.

If it makes you feel better, here's my time line:

CHC: Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Initial Application to CIO, Sydney: 2nd week of April, 2009
AOR Recieved from CIO, Sydney by post: May 1st week, 2009
Full Application Submitted to CHC: July 17, 2009 (yup I was too lazy)
Reply recieved from CHC by post: July 21, 2009
Status changed from "CIO Eligibility Review Complete" to "Recieved by Visa Office" - July 22, 2009
Status changed from "Recieved by Visa Office" to "In Process" - September 5, 2009

In my case, it was 6 weeks for the change.

And the current status reads "Your application was reviewed and we started processing on September X, 2009"

dear windtunnel,

Thanks so much for sharing your timeline. I hope everything goes well for you and you get your visa soon! I hope I get mine too! Let us just wait and see.

According to the new rules, it is supposed to take 6 months 12 months right to get the visa stamped into our passport?? So if that is the case, so at least it is for sure that we will definitely either get the visa or get rejected no later than the 12 months period....am I correct in my assumption?

Oh brothers

I'm fed up with waiting. I have applied for this way back in July 2008. Frist my status changed from received to "Application Received". Then Status changed to "Federal skilled Worker submitted to Sydney, Nova Scotia". that 7 months back. Then after it again changed to "Application Received" 2-3 months. I don't understand whats happening. They say under this new Assessment criteria application be processed in 6-12 months. What i don't understand is  after even 15 months they are still holding it. I have good  5+ years experience as a Software Engineer. An also Bsc Degree.

Please let me know what you all think on this. Im from Sri lanka.

yeah I think the waiting time is now long for some reason. No idea as to why. 6-12 months seems unlikely to me now. We just have to be patient. That's the key. Hang in there and we are all on the same boat so let us all pray..

Ok guys, here's an update to the timeline

Medical Request Recieved - 30th September 2009

In my case, it was 6 weeks for the change to "In process" and 4 weeks to recieve the medical thereafter.

But the current status at the site still reads "Your application was reviewed and we started processing on September X, 2009"
