Hi
I am a permanent resident living in Canada right now. I wish to sponsor my parents. However since the permanent residency application process takes its time, I would like my parents to be able to visit Canada and stay with me while the permanent residency gets processed.

What should I do ? - what visa to apply for ? Will their travel affect their permanent residency application etc. ?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated . Thanks !!

unless your parent qualify for any other visa they would need a travel visa to Canada, I strongly doubt they can stay in Canada the 6+yr duration for the length of parental sponsorship because in that time they will be uninsured and would not be able to work, them having a TRV will not affect their PR if anything it is more favourable as it shows they were allowed in I don't recommend having them overstay their visa as they will negatively affect their PR as they most likely will be out of status as the chance of them renewing your parents visit visa for the next 6 years seems a bit unlikely

If they are holding visa exempted passport, they can normally stay up to 6 months.  Other visa: student visa and work permit

Thanks both.

No, not visa exempted passports. If my parents receive a TRV what would be the max duration they can stay here in canada ?
I would want to apply for a multiple entry TRV for them , so that they could travel back and forth as needed.

I am from India. Does it take 6+ years for parental sponsorship in India HuhHuh?

multiple TRV is your best bet so they can come and go freely

You can't quite come and go freely on a multiple TRV. The longest you can stay is still six months. And if you start spending more time in Canada than outside of Canada - you can be denied entry for behaving more as a resident than a visitor.
