I am looking to go to canada this summer for about 3-6 months, I will be looking to work there along the way. as a work in return for accomenidation / food sitution. does anyone know what type of visa I will need ( I am a UK citizen). And what offical websites I need to apply for these visa's or websites that can give me some more information. without trying to take money off me lol.

You are pretty well out of luck, you cannot work as a visitor in Canada.  You could apply for a BUNAC open work permit if you are under 30 or a student.  The non student ones are gone for this year.
