Hi all,

My 1 yr work permit expires on April 21st. I have found an IT firm willing to offer me a job and I'm wondering is it possible to start work for him immediately or to go and get a new work permit in Seattle (I'm in Vancouver). If I start working now for him and send away the forms I presume I can continue working after the 21st on an "assumed status"? Any help or advice on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

There is no "implied status" when changing jobs.  You have to get a new work permit before you start.
