Hi
Okay, so I crossed the border from Canada to America this afternoon with the intention of importing my car. Because I knew there was a possibility that I would be asked to weight 72 hours I books a hotel room not far from the border (and because I know the car has to be in the states while they are doing that paperwork). I tried to find the fax number where I need to fax my stuff but couldn't so I called. The woman gave me some new info that I was unaware of.
She said that because my car is being financed at the moment I need something called a "certified screen print" along with a letter from my bnk saying I can export it. I have the letter and registration and the title that they gave me to register the car, which is not the actual title, I guess a sort of temporary title. But she insisted I need this certified screen print. Now here's the thing, she didn't seem to be able to tell me what it was and I cannot find any info on this ANYWHERE! I want to get this done and faxed off ASAP so I can cross on thursday and land and export my car at the same time (I have the hotel room until Thursday).
My next question. I am in my car, which is registered in Ohio. If I want to land before I import my car can I?
What you need is proof from the lender that they will allow the car to be exported. See:

For U.S. Titled Vehicles
Vehicles issued an original certificate of title. For used, self-propelled vehicles issued, by any jurisdiction in the United States, a Certificate of Title or a Salvage Title that remains in force, the owner must provide to Customs the original Certificate of Title or a Certified Copy of the Certificate of Title and two complete copies of the original Certificate of Title or the Certified Copy of the original.
Where title evidences third-party ownership/claims. If the used, self-propelled vehicle is leased or a recorded lien exists in the U.S., in addition to complying with paragraph (b)(1)(i) of this section, the provisional owner must provide to Customs a separate writing from the third-party-in interest which expressly provides that the subject vehicle may be exported. This writing must be on the third-party's letterhead paper and contain a complete description of the vehicle including the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), the name of the owner or lienholder of the leased vehicle, and the telephone numbers at which that owner or lienholder may be contacted and must bear an original signature of the third-party and state the date it was signed.
