Hello Everyone,

I have had reading all about care-giver Program, processing time and so long. I am right now on my way as care giver almost 1,6 year , 6 month longer.

My contract and my work permit does end on 30St August 2012, this is exactly when I rich the date to apply for PR, because I dont have any nerves to wait such a long processing time, can I apply for PR and go home wait there until this all processing is done? I know if it would be possible most girls would do it, but any ways is it possible? Or should I have 1 Year work permit even by submitting my documents for PR? Roll Eyes

I highly appreciated your respond

All the best and good luck in 2012!!!!!!!!!

Hi Leyliish,

You must submit your application for PR and OWP after you have completed your 24-month or 3900 hours contract. You can go home but you need a valid WP and a certificate or letter from your employer when you re-enter Canada.

Hi plussy,
thank you for your reply, So do you suggest I better have Work permit before I leave Canada? You see I dont wanna work as care giver until I get my OWP or PR it is not exactly what I wanna to do, that's why I do it until I have my 3.900 hours within min. 22 month and go home to wait there . And what if I dont have work permit? Am I permitted to submit my application for PR or ?
It is acctually my problem if I can entry CAnada for an eínterview,
What do you think?

Then don't apply inland then; try applying from your own country (I don't really know if any Live in caregiver/nanny has ever done it). You need to be in Canada to be able to complete an inland PR application and that what it means if you send an application for PR to CPC-Vegreville.

As far as I know, there is no outland application available for LC's, see http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/live-in.asp

As far as I know, an LC applicant must stay in the LCP until they get their first stage approval.  That means they must reside in Canada and have a valid work permit as an LC.  I do however believe that they are still considered to be in the program if they are unemployed as long as the work permit is still valid.

There is also an option for an LC without an employer and whose WP is expiring to get a bridge permit to allow them another 2 months to look for a new employer.

There is a lot of info on this in the manual for live-in caregivers at:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/ip/ip04-eng.pdf

So there's no other choice for the OP then but to maintain status in Canada while the application for PR is in process.

Hi Joyce08111985,

You can submit your application this February if you're planning a paper application.  If otherwise, March would be safe for an online application.  Once you receive your new WP, renew all government-issued identifications.

Good luck   Smiley
