I've noticed many posters in different threads mentioning something about an "MP" doing this or that. What is the "MP"?

And what does it have to do with the immigration process?

Curious.

A Member of Parliament is the individual elected to represent each particular area (called an electoral district, or riding) in the Canadian system of democracy.
Members of Parliament will sometimes assist immigrants who are experiencing difficulties with Citizenship and Immigration Canada. Responsiveness and willingness to help in immigration cases varies depending on the individual MP. There is no guarantee they can help, but some immigrants have had success getting help from their MP.
You can find your Member of Parliament using your postal code.

Right. Thanks doktorb.

I just didnt know what those 2 letters meant in the context of Canada visas! "MP" can also refer to: melting point, Mumbai Police, manu propria, Ministerio Publico or.... Missionary Position (wikipedia.com).

So you see, it's better to ask Wink
