Dear All,

I am Canadian PR but working overseas. My wife and children are in Canada since last 2 years. My PR will expire in Feb 2012. I have stayed in Canada for 13 months.

I know my family will have no issue in renewing the PR card. However, in my case is it possible to renew if I don't meet 2 year residency requirements?

What will be my status if my PR is not renewed. Can my family PR status remain intact/renewed if mine is not renewed being the principal PR holder. Can I visit Canada in future, if my PR status is revoked.

You all are doing a wonderful job and thanking you in advance for your replies.

Regards/SR

Relax.  In the worst case, your wife can sponsor you to come to Canada for PR if she still lives in Canada.  Even if your PR status is revoked, you can still visit Canada if you hold a visa exempted passport or qualify for a visitor visa.

Some reasons...

- sponsor is on social assistance
- sponsor is a PR and not living in Canada
- sponsor has an undischarged bankrupsy
- sponsor has a criminal issue that makes him/her not eligible to sponsor
- sponsor was married/common law before becoming a PR but landed as single and did not declare his/her spouse
- sponsor sponsored another spouse previously and the support obligation hasn't expired yet
- sponsor sponsored another person perviously, that individual claimed social assistance during the support period and sponsor hasn't paid this money back yet

Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head...

Dear Steaky,

My husband is PR, but not living in Canada. As soon as I get my extended PR I can start procedure. Will PR will be issued for next 5 years? Is it the same requirements-730 days? or not.

Yes - it's the same requirement. To maintain your PR status - you must live in Canada 730 days out of every rolling five years.
