Dear friends
In NOC search we find a section 'Classified elsewhere' at the bottom of the page, where some other NOCs with job title is listed.

Can anyone explain the purpose of this section ? What does it actually mean ?

Thanks.

it refers to jobs in similar industry, similar job.

it is ideally meant for ppl who are looking for the right fit for their job. if the job they are looking is not the best fit, they are given the option of going thru other NOCs as well and finding the perfect fit...

NO. CIO will approve only the ones mentioned in the ministerial list.

NOC is a separate standalone system not linked directly to immigration. And they have their way to organize their website. CIC is using NOC's website and it's details for ministerial instructions.

My understanding of "classified elsewhere" is that we can choose the NOC according to our requirement. If the most appropriate NOC is not in the 38 list, but another NOC in classified else where is in 38 list and has 'some' main duties matching yours, then you can choose that NOC for immigration purpose. This happened in my case. My application got initial acceptance and I am in process of submitting the complete application with documents.
This is my experience, seniors would know better.

SASIF, when did you apply. I am also pretty sure that for those applicants after Feb 2008, a NOC not in the 38 job list but on classified elsewhere (from a job in the 38 list), will not get approval. Sometimes, if your job duties really match one on the 38job list, i think the IO can use his discretion and change your NOC but if they don't then no chance for FSW1. That is my understanding.

I applied in september 2008 under 0411. It was an ideal match for my job description. But since it was not in 38 list I searched and found some of my main duties matching 0311 and made a request ti CIC to change my NOC. You are require3d to match 'some' not all the main duties. 0311 has 0411 in classified elsewhere section. It worked in my case.

Dear SASIF
My case is similar to you. I applied in June 2008 under 0611 code, which is not under 38 NOC. But some of my duties match with 0632 code, which is under 38 NOC. The duties of 0632 are not mentioned in my application. I want to do what you have done. Can I add some other duties that were not mentioned in my appliaction ?

Would you please tell me how did you communiacte with them, by email or courier ? Your job title is still remain same, right ? How long it will take to get their comment regarding code change ?

Thanks.

My job title remained the same. I picked out the main duties from new NOC which did match my job desription. First I asked them through case specific inquiry if I could change the NOC in view of the changes in law. CIC did reply that 'Yes, you may'. Then I carefully wrote new NOC and the duties witch matched and sent them through e-mail ( it is made clear by CIC that change in address and job should be notified immediately). I alse sent the hard copy through courior. No acknowledgement was given for this update. My initial application was sent in September. NOC was updated on 27 January and request for complete application was received on 25 May.
I would suggest you to directly update your NOC. It would save time.

Dear Syed, I looked at both the NOC you mentioned, but I dont think that their duties can match. One person, or one job can not describe the other in this case.

Dear SASIF
Thanks for your reply.

I wanted to say that I perform some duties of 0632, but did not mention in the application. I mention the duties of 0611 only, although I have many other duties. My query is whether I can add the duties of 0632 now and the code as well.

I think it depends on your occupation. If you are in the managment field of that code, which I understand to be hotel businness only then you can. But if you were managing some thing else then probably that would not be applicable. That is my understanding.
