My friend visited Canada and he applied from over there for student visa at the bigining of december. He is still waiting for response. Why is it taking so long? This happened to anyone ?

I don't think it's unusual. I believe some on this forum have waited as long as 3-4 months for a reply.

Just to add, which visa office did your friend apply through? Here are the official processing times from the CIC site:

for me i tink d reason 4 d delay is cos ur fwend applied outside his home country which is nt rili an advisable tin to do, as it is now, js hope 4 d best
