Hello everyone  Cheesy

I am sponsoring my mother to come to Canada and was expecting to hear from CIC if I will be approved as a sponsor or not around mid of 2012.  I was told before I need to be physically present in Canada when sponsoring, but does that mean I need to stay in Canada untill my mom got her immigrant visa or I am allowed to live with her outside of Canada right after my approval as sponsor?  My mom had been living by herself since I migrated to Canada and I felt bad of letting her live a lonely life for so long so I am planning to go back to live with her until she got her visa.

thanks & best regards,

You can stay out side but you should meet all other requirements as specified by CIC in the guide to qualify for sponsoring your mother.

One of the requirements for sponsoring parents is that the sponsor has to be physically present and living in Canada for both stage 1 and stage 2 of processing. So no - according to the rules, you are not permitted to go and live outside of Canada once stage 1 processing has been completed and you have been approved as a sponsor. If you decide to go and live with your mother at any point while the application is being processed and CIC finds out, the application may be refused.

Thank you both for taking time to reply........I might have to decide quick whether to make my mom happy now or let her suffer 3 or more years of loneliness, I don't know if it is worth it to wait for the sponsorship & her immigrant visa before we can live together again since we don't even know what the future holds for us =(
