Volunteer Programs in Canada

My friends are now applying for the volunteer environment conservation Canada program since they would like to experience working in a foreign country. May I know from the good people in this forum if successful applicants also receive salaries and other benefits as the program progresses? Thanks.

If they receive a salary, it is no longer a volunteer program and they would require an work permit.So it appears that they get room and board.
