From reading the OP, the boyfriend came into Canada in July 09 which means that he could legally stay until Jan 2010. (6 months). Maybe they applied for an extension but was over the 6 month allowment period, making them inelligible for an extension because they overstayed.

The OP's boyfriend applied for an extension before the expiration of the 6-month allowed visit and request for extension was refused.

He had the extension...unbeliveble...until november.....we are really happy.....

Congratulations! That is great. Is this after filing for the restoration of status?  And his prospective employer is going to apply for a new LMO. So everything is falling into place.
