Ok. Well I just got back from Canada, and I decided to stay for only 1 month, since I didn't want the risk of getting denied entry. I was not asked for proof of funds, however, I still was referred to a secondary interview by the POE officer. It seems like even a month is a long time for "visiting" purposes for them. The majority of questions involved was just for them to find out if I have enough ties in the U.S., although the second immigration officer who interviewed me said that the return ticket was all they are really looking for to grant me entry.
As a first time visitor to Canada, the interview seems unsettling, but the Canadian IO's attitude made the whole process feel like they're not there to find reasons to deny you entry. It was a good experience, overall, and I hope that my future visits to Canada will be hassle-free as well
