Visit Visa Appl from UAE - please help!!

hello everyone,

i'm new to this forum cuz i really don't know where to write and ask about our issues

here is my story: i am Canadian citizen, my bf is Syrian citizen and we r both residing in Abu-Dhabi, UAE; i moved to Abu-Dhabi, UAE just to be close to him and now we are both living here...still every time i go back to Canada to visit my family i would like to take him with me so we applied for Visitor Visa on April in the Canadian embassy in Abu-Dhabi; we waited patiently since, considering his citizenship, we thought it will take a while with all the security checks; after around 2 months of NO NEWS we went MORE TIMES to ask them what's going on; the trick is that u cannot talk with anyone, the questions are submitted on another application and it takes xx business days to get a reply; WE NEVER GOT!!!!! furthermore, they say clearly that if the application's deadline did not pass they will not reply at all, so we thought that they r still processing and so other few months passed

after 4 moths passed it was clear that something is wrong; since going in person and asking questions on a piece of paper gave us no results i started to hunt them with emails which of course there too it takes xx business days to get reply; still, they finally replied saying that they send us emails about the application on 2 different occasions but WE NEVER GOT THEM; i send them back email saying that we NEVER GOT those emails and how we can have the contents of those emails but NO REPLY; for the past month all i'm trying to do is to find out the contents of those emails but NO RESULT: when we call it's an automated system and we talk to no one, when we go in person they ask me to fill in a paper and no one answers to it, when we sent email still nothing; i just want to know if it has missing documents or it was rejected all together and why so we can move on and apply again; but like this, not knowing anything is really THE WORST

if any of you had a similar situation and managed to solve it please advise me what to do; should i keep sending emails, should i just forget of this application and start a new one; i'm really desperate, we waisted almost 6 months; any idea would be helpful!!

anyone? any suggestions? what would u do in our position? keep waiting and sending emails hoping one day maybe we'll get a reply with something useful? OR just forget about it and start all over again?

please it's our first time when we do this...is it possible that the file might be closed after so long time? and if it is or if a final decision was rendered shouldn't they also notify us in writing by mail or phone not only by email?

Have you tried checking the length of processing times of the Canadian High Commission responsible for your area? It may be that they take a long time to process because of the volume of applicants. Also have you tried the "case specific enquiry link" on the website?

for the case specific inquiry i did it online multiple times; just once i got an answer that "a letter was sent via email on...."; when i wrote back telling them that we have never received any email and what can we do next, how can we know the content of those email, we got no more reply; each time we write them back with the same question we are waiting 10 more business days for an answer, we don't get anything and we send again...

Possible scenarios:

1. Your application got lost in the mail or misplaced in the CHC office, in which case you can cancel the first one and then send them a new application. Did you send your application via the postal system with tracking numbers? Courier? (I hope the passport was not submitted with the lost documents =if app got lost= which very unlikely because it is one of the documents needed, sad)
2. CHC has made a decision and have sent/will send the decision and it just has not reached you yet.
3. CHC has sent a decision and it has gotten lost in the mail, sent to the wrong address.

They do not actually answer emails (never got one when I sent the CIC officer query emails before) because it is such an unusually looooonnnnnnggggg time to process visitor's visa (6 weeks is already a long time, how much more the 6 months waiting time for you)

we never sent the application by mail, we went in person and deliver it so we do have a file id number etc...
2 weeks after we applied they sent an EMAIL (just email, no official letter by mail or phone call) but the problem is that we have never received it and we found out that we got this email maybe 1 month ago (4 moths after we applied); now we keep trying to find out the status and what they were saying in that email with no results so far

don't think that we stayed 4 months without doing anything, we went in person and did an inquiry at least 3 times during that period; my guess is that they were still answering by email ONLY, the original email from the application which obviously was faulty - wrong on their side, wrong on our side who knows....now we made again an inquiry and we asked to receive their answer by mail also, we'll see what happens...

if the file is closed already, will they still answer us or ignore us completely? at the end we paid a service and we got no results from it or feedback
