Hi, I am an IT professional with 15+ years experience in programming, including C/C# and Oracle which are languages/database in fair demand around the world. However, I do not have a degree or any qualification after school. I have never had any difficulty in finding a job here in South Africa or in Australia when I was there and I sometimes even get job offers (or more often invites to interviews) out of the blue without applying for anything.

I have resigned my current position (effective end of August) and I intend to come over to Canada for a visit to attend interviews and look for a job for a couple of weeks. This approach worked for me when I went to Australia and I landed a job with a company that was willing to sponsor me from the first interview.

I don't know much about the process of moving to Canada though and based on what I've read on this and other forums it seems to be more involved to immigrate to Canada than to Australia.

Am I being too optimistic or is there some possibility of securing a job with a company willing to sponsor me if I'm there? I feel that it will be easier to prove my worth to a prospective employer if we can sit in a face-to-face interview.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

regards,

Dirk
