Hi there,

I have a similar question but different situation:

My sister in law is pregnant and would like to give birth in Canada. I'm a permanent resident in Canada and have a good job here.

So her due date is in Nov, what is the best Visa type she should use to get accepted: Visit Visa, Student Visa (with registration in some ESL classes), Tourist?

I would really appreciate your answer.

Thanks,
Nabil

If she is not from a visa-exempt country

1) She would have to apply for temporary resident visa (TRV) which allows her to stay for 6 months as a visitor.
2) If she plans to come as a student she would need student permit (course more than 6 months) as well as TRV, which is a long process.

She would have to undergo medical examination. I am not sure if this would be a problem or not.

Assuming she is able to get the TRV she would have to worry about:
1) the airlines might have some restrictions regarding travel during pregnancy.
2) she would have to incur all the medical expenses for child birth in Canada.
