Hi Everybody:

Perhaps someone can help me here. I will be travelling to the Philippines March 20, 2011 to get married to my sweetheart..my fiancée. I need to get there 2 weeks ahead of the wedding because I need to 1st get my "Certificate of Legal Capacity to Contract Marriage" from the Canadian consulate in Cebu. After I get that certificate, we must register at the city hall in Larena, Siquijor (town where where we will marry). then we must wait 10 days AND take a marriage counselling course (lots of red tape in The Philippines).

Philippines does not require Canadians to get a Visa if their stay in The Philippines is less than 21 days. However, with all this red tape, the wedding and spend a week for a honeymoon, that'll put my stay over the 21 days. So I must get a Visitor Visa.

My question is....If they ask me at the Consulate why I need the visa...should I tell them I'm getting married? Or will that cause them to deny my visa?

If anyone has any insights on this...I would appreciate hearing them...

Thanks,

Greg
