I received my passport back along with the document that I'm supposed to carry with me when I land. My question is, was there supposed to be some kind of stamp or something in my passport itself? Or is this document they sent all I need?

if you are from a visa exempt country then that document (COPR) is all you need when landing otherwise there should be a sticker/widget on your passport!

I'm from the US. Does that mean I have everything I need, then?

And a list of any personal goods (called a B4) that you might want to import, but that is for customs not immigration. Happy landing; it is SO much easier than applying.

Hi hsbalouch ,

I'm planning to land on March 8, and I was wondering if you could share your landing experience. I'm not planning to settle permanently until Sept' 12. Can the PR card be delivered to my friend's place? What about SIN? Please let me know!

Hi,
that should be perfectly alright, you can land before the expiry date and can go back to your country and yes you can give the address of your friend as far as s/he lives in canada and they can post your PR card to you later but make sure you have it with you next time entering canada or else you will have to arrange the travel documents.
it takes about 6-8 weeks for PR card to arrive, add few more days when its posted to you!
you can apply for the SIN same day you arrive in Canada, make sure you have your passport, COPR with you and Canadian address where your SIN card will be delivered in 10 working days.

my experience was awesome, they are very professional and friendly people at pearson airport toronto, its better to have the goods to accompany and follow list with you, it will save you time.
