Visa Extention

I would like to apply a Visa Extension while in Canada but I do not know what reasons should I include or I should not. We have been engaging a relationship physically for almost a year but we do not qualify to be a common law yet as it stated that we have to be together physically for at least a year. We have known each other for 2 years now but I came to Canada this Feb to live with her.
What can I do and to give reasons to the immigration to get my Visa Extension? My Visa will expire next year March. My status is still legal and a visitor. I am from Singapore which doesn't require a Visa to enter Canada. Please advice.

I think the main points to cover when requesting an extension is to have proof that:-

1) You have sufficient funds to support yourself for the entire period of the extension (this can include help from your girlfriend or other sources).  This is to show CIC that you you will not work illegally while you are here.

2) That you will leave at the end of your extension (best proof is a return ticket).

If you trust CIC, they told me that as long as you fill in the forms correctly, provide all the evidence they require and as long as you haven't committed any crimes while you are here that they will not reject your application.

As for the reasons, well, what are you reasons for staying?

My obvious reason would be to apply common-law/sponsorship..try to be with my gf. I guess if I were to include that I will get rejected huh?

Well on this one I can speak from personal experience!  I did indeed write that my reason was to stay with my common-law partner until we had passed the 12 month mark and I could then apply to change my status accordingly.  Please note I did also provide all the required documentation including a copy of my return ticket.

When you think about it, if CIC provides that you can

1) extend your stay from within Canada, and
2) allows you to apply for PR on the basis that you have lived in Canada with your partner for at least 12 months

then I guess it's logical that it's an acceptable reason to stay here! :-)

Thanks but now the situation is I am offered a job in canada, I am debating if I should go to Seattle and get my work permit..or go back to Singapore?
