Hello, I am under a the live-in caregiver program. I arrived here sometime in March 2008. I worked for 5 months with my first employer. However it did not worked out well so I transferred to another employer. I was given a new work permit but this will expire on May 3, 2010 based on my passport which will also expire May 3, 2010. My visa will also expire on May 3, 2010. I will be going home to my country for christmas and will be back January. My question is, will I have a problem in coming back? I will renew my passport when I am in my country. where and when should I renew my visa and work permit? Can I renew my visa here in Canada when I'm back in January? Please advise. Thank you.

yes, you can renew your visa and work permit being in Canada. when you apply for new passport keep an old one as it has visa stamped in there - this will allow you to enter Canada again.
