Hi All.

I am in a strange situation here..for those of you who dont remember my story, heres a quick recap.I have sponsered my husband on outland from new delhi ( new delhi started processing on feb 25th). My husband is presently here in Canada on work-visa. He was falsely charged of theft but that was withdrawn in april. and we sent all the proof to delhi office in early may. since then we haven't heard from them. we contacted our MP here to find out the status and she was told that immigration is conducting background checks so we contacted CSIS via fax on June 16th, and we received a reply now via mail saying that they are yet to receive a request from immigration. So that means that immigration has not asked CSIS to conduct any background checks..

so heres my confusion...is it a good thing that CSIS is not contacted meaning they are not going through that channel..or does that mean that they are delaying and they are yet to contact CSIS resulting in more further delay..i am soooo frustrated with all this..I cant seem to get even one ray of hope..and to make things worse my husband's work visa expires on Aug 22nd, so he has his tickets booked to go back on Aug 20th

what do u all think is the case??? please help me

thanks

Did you ever consider a letter to CSIS just to see what's going on.
Yesterday I was reading one of the thread someone sent or faxed a letter to them and in the thread they had indicated the address.  Use the search tool and I'm sure you'll find it.
Good luck!!!

I sent a fax to CSIS on June 6th and they still have no sent me anything via mail!! I dont know why...and On another message board, I saw two of the same stories similar to yours where CSIS was not notified by the VISA office to conduct backround checks..one girl posted that she got in contact with MP and she sent an email to the VISA office stating what they did ( not telling CSIS to do a Backround check) and the CSIS letter was proof...so a month later her husband was given a visa..she doesnt know if that helped but its worth a try..

Hey sonimal. I think it will be a little longer considering the false theft charge. They will make sure all is clear.  Unfortunately it's in CSIS hands by now and you can't predict how long it will take.  Make an inquiry. And Im not sure if you got your CAIPS. Stay positive.

Thanks for your kind words Bonchuk..
Yes sometimes things are not in ones control, and it really bothers me..
to tell you the truth, I have read a little about CAIPs, but I am not sure if immigration office at the visa office will be notified if we request CAIPs, and if so, what can be the impact of it , will it result in further delay.? I surely dont want to tick off the visa officer.

Can u please let me know the process and impact.

thanks

If you just make a CAIPS request without copies of your file in the visa office.. meaning just a request of the CAIPS file as is they wouldnt even have an idea you asked for it.  It won't prolong anything it will just help you to understand what is going on with your case and at what stage they are at. It is mostly codes and such but if you post to me or others here we can help you decipher it. Hope that helps!

hi boncuk,

thanks for your reply. My husband's work visa expires on Aug 22nd, so we both are going to india on aug 20th, I will stay there for 3 weeks and my husband will have to be there till he receives his PR. So even if i order CAIPS now, i wont get it before i leave for india.I spoke to my MP today and she said that she will contact visa office again to see if they have any more updates. Hopefully she will get a positive reply soon. I just hope that i hear something positive before we both go to india today.it will make our vacation much more enjoyable Smiley
