U.S.VISA FROM CANADA

Hi,

My son who is currently a U.S. Student visa holder plans to extend his U.S. Visa from the U.S. Consulate in Toronto. He is a holder of Indian Passport and has been a Canadian PR so far. Now, due to his non fulfilment of the residency status he has to surrender his P.R. at the Canadian Consulate in Buffalo or elsewhere in U.S and plans to secure a visitor visa to come into Canada.

Now I have two questions:

Will he face any difficulty in surrendering the Canadian P.R. and securing a visitor visa and how long would it take for him to do that in U.S.?

Secondly what are the proofs that he may be asked at the U.S. Consulate in Toronto besides his I 20 which he has from the University of Arizona where he has been studying for more than 4 years and presently pursuing his Phd.
