    I have received my second AOR from ND visa office, and waiting for my med req. We are expecting a baby in coming month...How long usually the time period to get passport for my baby?

1.  Get birth certificate first.
2.  It takes about 1-2 months for the passport of child.

it takes only 15- 20days to issue a passport in case of a minor children. Because in that case there is no need of police verification. And it is valid for only five years.
My one year daughter has a pp which is valid only four five years

The hospital would have given you a document about the birth of the baby.  just give it to the local panchayat / municipality office / corporation. fill in the required forms and pay the money. Then they will tell you a date when you can come and collect the birth certificate.  This is usually within 7-15 days. Its no big deal, but the lazy officials there drag it for no reason.

I am 6 months through now, and we are In process since Nov 2010. So I was thinking that all may come together, I mean baby and some improvement in our file. You info really will safe time in the future!!!

I got the birth certificate and Passport for my son too. As soon as your baby is born, the hospital will issue you a certificate. Take that certificate to the nearest Municipal Corporation office, where they register births. They will ask you to fill a form. Fill the form, pay the charges, and they will give you the certificate in a day or two.

For passport, take the municipal corporation birth certificate first, fill the form for the baby, include all documents for address proof, yours and your wife's passport copies, copy of birth certificate address proof etc, and apply. Fees is Rs. 600. My son's passport came within 45 days.

it will take only 20-25 days to issue a passport for new born baby. because minor child do not want police verification. i also applied for the passport of my new born baby and it took only three week to issue, my passport office is chandigarh
