Usually how long it takes to get file number if applied under family sponsorship

I married to a Canadian citizen in Dec'2010. My wife filed for the P.R for me under family sponsor category in Feb' 2011. It's been like almost 5 months and I am still not getting any reply from canadian immigration office nor getting AOR number. Is there any way to know the status of the application by name bases as I do not have any reference number?

Check eCAS using your receipt number.

hey.... u have to cHeck ur ECAS,,,, did u get any letter or email from mississauga office or receipt that u have been approved and paid the fess,,,,, on the top of that... there is  client id.... use that on canadian immigration webpage.... u will have all the information................... eCAS is an online system, you can find it here https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/?app=ecas&lang=en

Your wife will have a receipt number, but there are other types of "ID" that can be used (see the eCAS page).

Did your wife get a a letter of approval as a sponsor?

No.. My wife do not get rejection or confirmation letter from the immigration office. Not even single word. Try to call Mississauga call center but no answer as well.. It's really frustrating. Next week It will be 5 months without word.. I emailed to delhi immigration office but no reply from those people as well..

Guys.. My wife received payment receipt from the immigration office. There is transaction ID on it. Is it helpful anyway to figure out how long it will takes more to receive the file number? She received this payment receipt almost after 6 months from the date she put the file.

ya u can check with receipt number as well...
then u be able to see when did u get approved and when ur application has been transfer to delhi...
