My member of Parliament is the Foreign Affairs critic for his party but he said he couldn't write a letter of support for me BUT he could act as a liaison for my application. That means calling CIC to find out what is going on with the application or what should be done etc.

In what way do you want the MP to help? Are you having problems with the application?
The MP can help if you are OUTSIDE of the normal processing times for your visa office. If your wife goes to her MP and it's still in the normal waiting time, they might not do anything. But an email from an MP to a visa office is better than anything you or your wife can do on your own.
Personally, in my sponsorship, the visa office was taking too long to process the medical exam for the dependants, and a couple emails from the immigration expert at our MPs office was all it took for the visa office to send the results to the processing centre. My husband was "landed" within a month from the time we contacted the MP.

yea it is.
the reason my wife is contacting her mp is because she knows him and he offerd his help. she also tought about telling him about our situation which is,we dont have much photos really, and we never lived 2gether coz it is unacceptable in our society for couples to live 2gether unless they are married and when we got married she left to canada on the very next day. this is why iam really concerned that the IO might simply refuse our application even thou we truely love each other.
btw, my orignal plan was to get married and go to venezuela, but my wife insisted on going to canada coz she consider it is for our best.

Yes, I agree with med. Photos alone won't make or break your app, and living together also won't. Immigration officers take into account the cultural practices of the countries that the applicant and sponsor are from. Just make sure you give other things- proof of visits, letters sworn before a commissioner for taking oaths about your relationship from family and friends who know you are together, other pictures and so on.
I wouldn't get the MP involved until you know there are problems. You could also gather further proof in preparation for an interview. If they are suspicious, they will ask you questions about your wife that you wouldn't be able to answer if you weren't in a relationship. You'll be fine.

i just got an idea abt this problem am trying to wrtie a confession on a paper attesting my legal marriage to my wife and get my friends to sign it an probide their phone numnbers under thier signature in this i think the IO will know that people know abt our relationship and if he suspects it he can call phone numbers there ,

when u don't understand why they ask for extra documents... took too long... asking what are they want if they ask for docuemnts... i did ask my mp for help and they were so helpful... it was the best thing i did... sometimes u don't know what kind of proof they want... or why it took so long.. in my case... my mp told me that i was approved and they needed proof that i will go back to canada... ... the funny thing is that i was in canada when they asked that... so i made this clear to them and sent them evidance... it didn't took less than 3 weeks to get passport request after that...
good luck...... i know it is frustrating... but trust me it is worth it... my husband is so happy here...

boujasim.. I have talked to the person in charge of the immigration(inside MP s office) not the mp and sad to say the answers I want to hear is not given to me yet..she doesn't even know a lot about policies.. so I don't know if Mp can help or not to be honest. I told you I will inform you after I will talked to them. She even told me to return home coz there's no such thing as no legal status in Canada and you will be sponsored.. sigh...
