Hello,

Immigrants who have already completed their landing formalities can you please share your experience if anyone used the same photos for PPR and PR card. All the specs look same other than the date printed on the back of the picture.

Do we really need to have the date printed or did anyone get thru without the date or have it hand written...please share your experience.

They have recently changed the pic specfics for PR Card (check crown to chin) : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5445EB.asp

But with the PPR, I have received the link of the photos as: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/photospecs.asp

These 2 are not same?

Thanks

Notes to the photographer
The two photos must:

•show a full front view of the person's head showing full face centred in the middle of the photo;
•be clear, well-defined and taken against a plain white background without shadows;
•be produced from the same unretouched film or from the same file capturing the digital image or from two identical photos exposed simultaneously by a split-image or multi-lens camera;
•be original photos (not taken from any existing photo);
•New: measure between 25 mm and 30 mm (1” and 1 1/5”) from chin to crown (top of hair);
•have a 35 mm x 45 mm (1 3/8″ x 1 3/4″) finished size;
•be on photographic paper that has a backing which accepts and retains the date. Photos without this backing are not acceptable;
•be on prints that are well-fixed and washed to prevent discolouration;
•bear the date the photo was taken (not the date the photo was printed) directly on the back of one print (stick-on labels are not acceptable).

You can write the date with a pen on the back of the photo. The backing must be such that it won't smudge easily or wipe off.

Ell.bee.....I checked with a couple of photographers on this requirement, and very few of them actually seem to use this kind of paper.

I got some prints from Walmart and the date with a ballpoint pen does not smudge. So I guess it should work as long as the crown to chin specs are satisfied.

So my question to you would be: Why did Buffalo send us the link of the old photo specification and not the new one. I followed the old one.

Chigirl - Make sure that you use the new one when you get the PPR - hopefully this week.

Oh well. Make sure that you take 2 photos with ya (with new specifications) when you do landing and inform the Officer the situation. I will definitely do that to avoid mishaps.

Makes sense to take as per the new specs for landing.. I will do that. BTW I got the PR Visa Stamp with the old specs.

Hi,

Just want to make sure I understand what's going on. So, when we apply initially, we are sending pics to Buffalo:
4 photos per applicant with the following measures
-between 25 mm and 30 mm (1” and 1 1/5”) from chin to crown;
-have a 35 mm x 45 mm (1 3/8” x 1 3/4”) finished size.

Then we also need to submit 3 photos when we are required passport to Buffalo. With those latest, they will attach one pic to CO-PR and return the remaining.
-The frame size must be at least 35 mm x 45 mm (1 3/8″ x 1 3/4″);
-The size of the head, from chin to crown, must be between 31 mm (1 1/4″) and 36 mm (1 7/16″).

And as final step we ought to supply 2 more pics:
-measuring between 25 mm and 30 mm (1” and 1 1/5”) from chin to crown (top of hair);
-have a 35 mm x 45 mm (1 3/8″ x 1 3/4″) finished size;
-be on photographic paper that bears a date when landed. Is that right?

Now, is it the same if we do landing inland at CIC Local services?

Yes...you have it bang on...

The reason for this discussion is that, the PR card photo spec has changed recently, but photo spec has not changed in Buffalo's ppr request email.
