Hi,

I am the Canadian Citizen (w/ PR status in US) & married to a US Citizen and have been living in states for 15 years. I just rented an unfurnished apartment in Montreal.
We have not filed the paperwork for my husband yet, but did the medical and sent off for FBI fingerprints.
My Question:
1. I have to drive up all the furniture to the apartment and wanted to bring him with for driving and moving. will this be a problem? He has plenty of ties here in atlanta..a mortgage, 2 cars, runs & owns a decent sized company plus we are leaving our 2 dogs while we do this.

Does anyone have any input or advice?
Much appreciated.
Stephanie
P.S  maybe i need to clarify...We both will be moving in/or around of October of this year, however i will be moving first to get everything set up and also to establish ties (as i have been away so long).Txs for the input

It may be an issue for the border official if he/she is not sufficiently convinced your husband will be returning to the US.  Have plenty of proof that you intend to proceed through the proper channels (proof of the fees paid and any other part of the paperwork completed) and plenty of proof of his ties to home - proof of ownership of the company, something from his accountant stating it is a going concern, proof of the mortgage etc.  You should also definitely get him a return ticket.

In your shoes, I probably wouldn't risk him being with me in the Uhaul, I'd have him fly up a day or two after I arrived, armed with all the proof of the ties mentioned above, but that's just me.  Maybe you can post this on the thread for Outland, Buffalo applicants and get some insight from other Americans.

I agree with Charlie. Drive the uhual over the border on your own and have him travel separately. I think the alternative (having him travel with you) is risky.
