I think you have to renew your PK passport first, in order to enter in to Canada.

You need to show your passport and your US immigration card when you enter Canada and when you re-enter the US.

You have to have a valid passport. They will not admit you with an expired passport. However, once you have a new passport, you can enter Canada visa-free if you show your U.S. PR card. when we were in Detroit Canadian consular section a visa officer said that green card holders need to apply for visitor's visa if they are not from visa exempt countries.

Sorry wrong, Green Card holder's don' t require TRVs (visitor visas) for Canada see: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.asp"Visitor Visa Exemptions persons lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence who are in possession of their alien registration card (Green card) or can provide other evidence of permanent residence;" PMM

thank you for your reply, PMM. why do they keep officers in the consulates who do not know the regulations? there would be much less stress and problems if they knew the rules properly. this way they just cause lots of confusion.

Most people talk to a clerk when the visit a consulate, not an officer. A lot of the clerks don't have the information or don't understand it correctly. PMM

thanks again, PMM. we actually talked to the officer, as we asked for the interview related to visitor's visa refusal. and it was she who told this to us personally. that is what rises the confusion now.

It is most unfortunate when we receive incorrect information from official sources. It's hard to find good people for every position, unfortunately. thanks again, PMM. we actually talked to the officer, as we asked for the interview related to visitor's visa refusal. and it was she who told this to us personally. that is what rises the confusion now.

Detroit office is complete mess, as there are cases when they refuse visa application just because they do not like your face...and talk to people very rude - my own experience with officer... actually they are not worth even to be talked about.
