u.s criminal record- clearence

so i have this friend who has a criminal record in the united states and the charge is from 2010 they want to come to canada but they have found out they are inadmissible are there any options for this person other than being deemed rehabilitated and does anyone know of a way to clear a us criminal record please help... i know if the crime is done in canada you can get a pardon or if the crime is in america you can apply for a wavier.
