U.S. citizens married to Mexican Nationals

I am a U.S. citizen married to a Mexican National. My husband and I got married while he was in the U.S. illegally and we proceeded with U.S. immigration. Due to a prior deportation, our application was denied and my husband must live in Mexico. He has essentially been barred from the U.S. for life. We are now waiting to be able to immigrate to Canada and are very excited, despite having to wait what seems like forever. Is there anyone else out there in a similiar situation?

I could not believe my eyes when i read your post today. Your case is exactly like mine. Im a us citizen and my husband is from guatemala. He was deported in 99 and reentered illegally. Now he is banned from the US. We are trying the same thing, by trying to enter and eventually become permanent residents in canada. I am scared to death that they would deny us for whatever reason. We have been separated for over a year.
How has your experience been? Did you find a job in canada or are you applying for a permanent resident visa? Are you pretty certain that you and your husband will be allowed into canada? Do you have a lawyer? please let me know any info that can help of hurt us. We are getting so desperate and frustrated.
thanks so much and good luck...

Djsnare,
Thank you for your response. I was beginning to think that no one else out there had a similiar situation. In a nut shell I can tell you that the Campbell Cohen firm is handling our immigration case. I decided to go with a lawyer since we had such an awful experience with U.S. immigration.
I see you have an email address listed in your member profile. I will email you more information. Likewise, please do the same. My email is also on my member profile.
I hope we can stay in contact.
