Hello,
my husband and I are in the process of applying to immigrate to canada. I have a bachelors degree and my husband has a 2 year associate degree and at his junior year in the university. He has  10 years  work experience in graphic and web design and I have 6 years work experience in education .
How long will the immigration process be? I heard conflicting answers from 2 years , 1 year , 8 months?
If you have gone through the same process please let us know. We are eager to move soon.

If you have all forms filled in correctly, there's no interview, there's no problem with your medicals, and there's no problem with your background checks, it will probably be between 12 and 18 months.

Better add a year on to the estimate, Buffalo is quoting 17-28 months for 80% see: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/international/02a-skilled-fed.asp#west

There are many more American nationals moving to Canada so the wait is getting longer.  Add to this the dismal situation in Japan which is only adding more Japanese to the immigrantion lines.  In addition, SHOULD THE REPUBLICAN PARTY WIN THE NEXT US ELECTION (God forbid), president, congress, etc., then you can expect a HUGE SURGE IN IMMIGRATION OUT OF THE US.  As it is 8 years of Bush and his cronies and the numbers are up sharply.  If results show the US is headed toward another right-ward turn, then many, and I mean MANY more will leave.

Prospective applicants to Canada should bear this in mind when making plans to immigrate.
