After landing, we know that the first PR is mailed within 4-6 weeks to the address given by the landing immigrant, but we do not know how it is mailed? By registered mail or by ordinary mail? Is it dropped to your mail box?

If it is sent by registered mail and if you re not home at the very instant the mailman rings your door bell, what happens?

Hi, usually it comes as registed mail, and if no one is at home, post man will leave a pick up-notice (door tag)

Authorize person can pick up by showing Driver's licence or ID from post office mentioned in pick up notice.

Mostly in Canada Post, they don't bother to ring bell or come to your apartment, they simply leave door tag in your mail box to pick up item.

hope this helps.

Thank you for your replies, but what do you mean by 'authorize person'? Myself or someone else whom I have authorized by writing? Please kindly clarify?

Ordinary mail/post , just normal maii/post.
depend on your building structure, if you stay with some one have own house and mailbox is close to door and postman know the post then some postman knock the door and gives to hand on the person otherwise mostly will going to mailbox only.

I think passports normally come by registered post but PR will be probably dropped through the door as ordinary mail, that's what I have read in other threads.
