Hi Members, a quick question, can I sponsor my husband if I gave a sponsorship to him 2 years ago?  We withdrew the application right after submitted because he had a great job offer in our own country at that time, we decided to go back. Now we want to settle in Canada and need to do the application all over again, but I read the immigration official site and it says that

"Note: You cannot be sponsored as a spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner if the sponsor gave a previous sponsorship undertaking in favour of a spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner and three years have not passed since that spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner became a permanent resident of Canada"

Does anyone know if such rule applies to our case?(sponsor a same person/1st application does not lead a PR status/apply again after two years) Thanks!

What is your status in Canada? Are you a citizen? If you didn't finish the application then you haven't sponsored anyone. I am not positive but I believe that is referring to sponsoring a person and then bringing more in. People will need to know a little more about your situation than that.

He didn't become a permanent resident so that clause does not apply.  However, if you are PR, you must be in Canada in order to sponsor him.  If you are a citizen, you can do it from the outside.

Thanks! Leon/Rattles

I am a PR and my husband did not become a PR as we withdrew the application right after submitted 2 yrs ago. I will be back to Toronto next month and sponsor my husband, we are preparing the documents and filling out forms. Strange thing is several forms cannot be seen or downloaded from immigration website(IMM1344E) does anyone experiencing the same problem?

I was having issues like that and found if I copied the address of the file and pasted it into a new window it would open. Not sure if that is the problem you were having but clicking the links doesn't usually work for me either.
