Hi,

I have the question want to ask, my PR card was expired 1 year but i haven't renew because i am waiting for being the citizen so i didn't renew it. unfortunately, one of my family member passed away in my home country, and i just went back. If i do not want to apply the travel document, can i return to canada?

Nope.  You need the travel document to get back to Canada so you can replace your PR card.

Dead provement = "death certificate"

No, a death certificate isn't a valid travel document.
