URGENT!! Help With Work Visa

My boyfriend recently was denied his work visa extension due to missing information on his LMO. The letter he received said he has to leave immediately. He is currently not working because his original work visa has expired, but his visitor pass is valid until February 2012. My questions are:

1: How long does he have after receiving the letter of declination before he has to leave the country?
2: Can he remain in the country as long as he's not working until his visitor pass is expired?
3: When he does leave he will reapply for another permit (this time with all the info). How long does he have to be out of the country before he can come back in? and does his permit have to be approved before he can come back in?
