I am absolutely shocked to hear this. The Austrian UPS doesn't trust the Canadian UPS? It's not an issue of personal trust; they should shut up and do their job. I would try calling UPS and asking them what the hell they are up to (maybe not using that exact choice of words...).

I'm really sorry to hear about your troubles. I've the three big shipping companies (UPS, FedEx, and DHL) quite a few times and had both good and bad experiences with them all. Not a big fan of either one, though I do generally prefer UPS. I've never had troubles like this, though.

the most ridiculous point in all of this that even Canadian UPS support cannot do anything from their side either, keeping redirecting to the UPS store that sent the packet.

the most funny thing is that the UPS store keeps sending emails to the UPS office in Austria asking them to call 1-800 toll free number! Their ignorance is just unbelievable!

I was quite surprised the way the Canadian Embassy helped us keeping in touch with UPS and arranging our passports shipped. It looks like not all of visa offices are so tough and hard-hearted.

That is GREAT!!! So the UPS kinks are finally ironed out:) Will the Canadian embassy still make use of the UPS services in sending you your passports?

Actually they found the way to persuade UPS to get the package, we'll see the way it goes.

Great news, Suin!

Embassies have a lot of leeway and discretion in how they do things, so they are very dependent on the people that work there - the right person can turn disaster into triumph and a bad person can turn an easy case into a nightmare... Glad to hear you seem to have some good people working at your embassy!

Thank you for your kind words, Karlshammar. It was quite a surprise for me too - we used to try to contact them related to our application and they never replied back, even in the most important situations. We were quite disappointed with them. That's why we very surprised that they decided to help us with our passports.
