Hi Guys and especially the experts here.

Ill keep this as brief as possible as im aware that although help is freely offered here, it is your free time being taken up.

I am a British National and i intend to move to Canada on the 26th of this month. As a visa exempt national, from what i can gather, the only things holding me back are a TWP and the dreaded LMO.
I have fired my resume off to jobs listed in my NOC code (7247-B) and generally everything that is available in semi skilled employment also to get my foot on the ladder as it were.

I see success stories from all different people in all walks of life on this forum which tells me that employers ARE willing to do the application and that LMO's arent just a pipe dream.

I guess my question is, where do i stand if, in 6 months time the worst case scenario develops and i do not find gainful employment? Will i have to return to my country of origin? Could i hop to the states and come back as an entirely seperate 'holiday'? I will be staying with friends so accommodation is not a concern to me but i do wonder about availability of jobs and more about employers willing to put in the little work required for me to gain an LMO.

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time

Has anybody been in a similar situation that can offer advice until one of the experts is free to chime in?

Phil, you can come into Canada on a visitor visa but you can't work. they may question you on entry regarding the purpose of your visit and if you have the funds to permit you to "holiday' for 6 months.

There's nothing stopping you looking for work but 6 months is a tight timeline. the LMO can take anywhere from 6 - 12 weeks to process and then the TWP could take a further 4 - 6 weeks. this means you will need to have the job offer and the paperwork started within 1 month of arrival.

The TWP is employer specific so once you have it you can't just work anywhere

And yes, if you don't have the TWP you will have to leave Canada after 6 months. If you don't and the catch you, you have blown and chance of getting in again.
