Author Topic: two years out of five years to retain PR status  (Read 1714 times)

Hi PMM,

 Can you let me know whether the two year period that a person spends in US after taking his PR in Canada would be deemed to be the period of stay in Canada for the purpose of retaining PR status. My son plans to go over to Canada,take his SIN card and would be proceeding to join a US University for doing a Masters' program for two years. Will he be  eligible to retain his PR assuming he continues to study further in US beyond his Masters.

No, last time I looked US and Canada were two separate countries.

Yes,indeed they are two different countries. You do have a fine sense of humour apart from expertise on immigration matters. Thanks.
