Leon,

I was granted a PGWP in 2009 after I finished my Masters degree. I've been in Canada from 2009 until December 2011, mostly working as a freelance video editor. I came back to my country of origin to visit my mother who's been sick all 2011. My PGWP is valid until August 2012, but I need a TRV to re-enter the Canada. Can I obtain one not having a letter from employer? I need to resume my stay in Canada, that's the main purpose of my trip. Please help.

Hi,

1. Most likely yes. A PGWP is an 'Open Work Permit' and you do not need a job letter from an employer for TRV application. All you need a valid passport + a valid PGWP.

Hi,

1. However, it is NOT a guarantee that you will be issued a TRV if you have been granted a TRV in the past.

Thanks for your responses.

Can I mention as my reasons for returning to Canada are to look for work/continue working as self-employed? What documents or supporting information should I show them? I'd appreciate some help with these questions.

Thanks in advance!
