TRV in person at Canadian Visa office in Washington, D.C.

I a grad student in North Carolina, and I need the TRV to attend a conference in Canada around the first week of October. I wonder if I drive to D.C and apply the TRV in person at the Canadian office, will I get the Visa stamp same day? If not, I might have to pay for some Visa agency services. Thank you so much for you help.

in person is better i went NYC office in August an get visa Next day..while visiting USA.
Summer soon done and school almost open so it not be a busy period...so go in Person NYC an u get it the following day...Dont go Tuesday as NYC dont return passport on Wednesdays....so go Monday Wen,Thur or Fri.
