since my would-have-been sponsor left with my children, i have to source of income, but have been granted legal aid, i am filing family law papers about seeing my children....

Either way, its only a matter of a week or 2 before i have to leave Canada or starve to death....

Should i just to a POE with the court paper, a police cert showing my crimes (& punishment) were all over 10 years ago, and try to get back in on a TRP as that would give me a work permit so i can stay in Canada and try to see my kids, whatever about a still hoped for reconcilliation at some point?
I have a restoration of visitor status filled, but that is approx 130 days away
I am so desperate, is it worth it, or will it damage me further down the line trying to get back in to Canada?
