Travelling prior to visa expiry

I am in visitor visa.And i wish to travel to my hometown.My visa expires in October.How many months prior to the expiry date should i be making the travel?Is there any restriction for that??

Where are you now (country)?
Where is your home town (country)?
Is your visa Single Entry or Multiple?
