Hi all,

I would just like to verify the following.

I am Canadian living in Portugal with my husband. I have been approved as his sponsor and we are now waiting for the next step for his PR at the Paris office.

Due to some family issues, we need to travel to Canada within the next 2 weeks.

Am I right to assume that if we have a return ticket, and some kind of proof of his job, or bank account here in Portugal, that this one week trip to Canada will not affect his status?

If you have any experience in this matter, please let me know ASAP as we have to book our flights!

Thank you

Him being allowed to enter Canada while you have a PR application in process for him will not jeapordize the PR application - although it might make it harder for him to get admitted to Canada.  Be sure that he has proof of strong ties to Portugal and a return flight itinerary . . . and you should be accompanying him to help authenticate his responses to their inquiries.  Also might be a good idea to bring a copy of your sponsorship approval letter - being he's from a visa-exempt country, they should even be able to admit him for an extended stay when you bring proof of your marriage and your PR ap in process. Considering the fact that you're not even asking for an extended stay, there really shouldn't be an issue with them allowing him entry.
