Hello Everyone,

My wife just got work permit extension till 2014 (but her visa in the passport is already expired) and we are planning to travel outside country.

can anyone please help me and suggest if we can travel back just with just the extension paper or do we need to first get the passport stamped with the visa before traveling (and how/where).

Thanks a lot to everyone.

You can fly out but can not come back to Canada without Visa. Work permit can not be used to travel

Option 1 Send your passports to buffalo for renewal, it takes max 3 weeks.

option 2 would be to go back to home country and renew it there.

option 1 is the safe bet.

Thanks Shims,

Can you please provide more details/Address/Links where I can check the list of the document that is required and post to Buffalo. I guess, that is the best option.

Thanks so much.

Thanks Shims for the link. But unfortunately the link for the "Application Kit", "fee schedule" and "submitting the application" is not working. It is redirecting to Page not found.

Can you please provide the updated link.

Also, it is given on the website that for Buffalo, we can send our documents to (if we are within Canada)

Canadian Consulate General
Immigration Regional Program Centre
P.O. Box 660
Fort Erie, Ontario
L2A 6R6

Is this a safe PO BOX as I have to send the originals to Consulate Or shall I send the passport directly to Buffalo.

Thanks a lot.

Try this one:

http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/buffalo/visas/trv-after_vrt-apres.aspx

Also try calling them for instructions and the current processing time for TRV

To get a new visa while you are still in Canada, you can apply to the Canadian consulate in Buffalo.  The process will take about 3-4 weeks.  Just follow the instructions you will find at

http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/buffalo/visas/forms_temporary_resident_temporaire_formulaires.aspx?lang=eng

Note:  You will actually send your applications and passports to a mail drop address in Fort Erie and it will get hand delivered to the consulate from there.

Fee for Family class is 400 (Wife Spouse and Child), they do not process application with incorrect fee

Thanks
